March 28 — May 3, 2025
Thursday 24 April at 7pm
Inaugural lesson, in the form of performance, by Ricardo Mosner,
following his appointment as Regent of Tanko- & Toichographie
by The College of Pataphysics.
(…) Whether it is his paintings with violent chromaticism and strong characters, his most humorous sculptures or his theater that was in its time violently avant-gardeguard, Mosner transforms the nostalgia of Argentina and his art of staging and distancing with a vitality and sensuality that lead him to always embody bodies of great presence. Terribly dense characters, inhabited by a sometimes ravishing vigor, great inhabitants of multicolored crowds and sprawling cities, barons and queens of the world of gouapes and suburbs, the beings of Mosner are those of the great theatre of life, death and desire, magic and dreams of exile.
Jean-Luc A. d'Asciano. In revue Ligeia.
(...) Ricardo Mosner is an artist worked by obsession and anxiety. His questioning of the relationship between man and the world has placed the human figure at the centre of his formal and aesthetic concerns. Pivot and base of its true interrogation, the figure is crushed, kneaded, stretched, picked up, cut, divided; always human. Reinvented with verve and malice, it has for support the canvas, cardboard, iron, wood, wire, plaster, paper. The pigments are worked to their maximum potential, in a gestuality and a desire for experimentation that allow Mosner to establish an infinite register of attitudes, physiognomies and characters.
Flirting with the comic strip, his art shows a bulimic ease and makes explode a jubilation of the material where, as in the drawing, he feels no constraint, no barrier.
What characterizes and makes the interest of Mosner’s art, is that it does not deviate from the famous libertarian adage of the poet: «Do as you please».
(…) The ability to paint, draw, cut, paste and assemble make Ricardo Mosner an artist and a craftsman of enjoyment and freedom. In the interwoven strength and weakness of form and «object», nothing human seems to be foreign to him.
Christine Frérot. In Contemporary Art of Latin America and Ricardo Mosner Sculptures, catalogue of the Argentine Gallery, Paris.
